Here is a description of the class from their website:

“Learn how to turn your beeswax into beautiful artwork using the techniques of encaustic painting–an ancient medium that combines beeswax, resin, and powdered pigment. In this beginner’s course you’ll learn how to mix your own paint, the history of encaustic art, studio safety, fusing with a heat gun, and basic painting techniques.  We will create original works of encaustic art using layering, scraping, incising, texture, image transfer, and collage.  You should expect to complete 1-2 paintings to take home and display!

Detailed topics covered in the class include:

  • Mixing paint
  • History of the medium
  • Studio safety
  • Fusing with heat

Families are encouraged to join in on the fun together! Students ages 12 and up can sign up for the class. All materials provided.”
